The UND Admissions Viewbook is used to recruit prospective students. This viewbook was created in summer 2018 for the upcoming cycle. A team from Marketing & Creative services met to address how to improve the viewbook from previous versions and other schools. Researching other school’s viewbooks, getting Admissions rep feedback and working with our brand standards, helped develop dynamic piece. Additions made were included half-page inserts (located between 3-4 and 9-10), a social media section and more story-telling content.

UND digital billboards developed for general and brand awareness.

I AM #UNDproud flight ran in various ND cities during spring 2019.

Leaders in Action and animated synced flights ran in Minneapolis, MN during fall 2018. Leaders in Action boards were static. Animated boards shown in the video were located in a viewshed that contain multiple, synced boards.

Light Pole Banners

Light pole banners were replaced across campus in 2018. The old banners were in poor condition and in violation of identity guidelines.

Project strategy was driven by the UND President and executed by Creative Services. Banners were created to promote the Leaders in Action brand tagline while create personal connection through imagery.

This project was a joint effort with Facilities. I was the lead from creative services but worked with the creative director and university photographers to finalize the banner designs. In addition to the design, I created detailed planning and installation documents for the printers and Facilities.

Part of my role as senior graphic designer is to provide brand management and consultation. Various projects I have provided consultation on include the UND Fighting Hawks logo development, UND brand research and the exterior wayfinding system.

Some projects I provided further design assistance on include expanding brand visuals into a full, scalable system and working directly with wayfinding designers to produce new options that more closely aligned with the UND visual identity.

Events are important in creating positive experiences for UND’s audiences and bring the UND brand to life. Commencement is the largest UND event hosted three times a year. The goal of this official event is to celebrate student achievement with school spirit and pride.

Over the years I have created commencement material from gonfalons to commencement programs.

Gonfalons
In 2017, UND updated the commencement gonfalons and matching banners. Improvements including using the correct green, correct college colors, updating college names and updating the design for easier readability.

Commencement Program
In 2018, the commencement program was updated to have a standard cover for each ceremony. The paper quality was upgraded and design was updated to showcase UND green and the official UND Seal. A template for the program’s inside pages was also created. This allowed an outside freelancer to work on the program while still following university standards.
